The 2013 Aussie Millions is in full swing, and after a record-setting opening tournament it seems as if poker is coming back in 2013 after a disappointing 2012 that saw attendances plummeting at poker tournaments across the globe. Below you will find a summary of the first three tournaments from the 2013 Aussie Millions, including Rupert Elder’s $250k score in Event #1.
Rupert Elder wins Event #1
Event #1 of the Aussie Million attracted 701 players, but with the reentry format used the total number of entries ballooned to 1,338, making this one of the largest tournaments in Australian history. When the smoke cleared it was two well-known poker pros who would battle for the title, Rupert Elder and Martin Finger, with the Brit, Elder, getting the better of his German counterpart.

Event #2 at the Aussie Millions was an $1,100 PLO tournament that attracted 233 entrants. Vakili is a regular in tournaments in Australia with a handful of noteworthy cashes in his career.

Guttman captures fourth career Aussie Millions event in Event #3
Event #3 at the 2013 Aussie Millions, an $1,100 buy-in No Limit Holdem Shootout tournament that attracted 210 participants, was won by longtime Aussie poker player Michael Guttman. Guttman is closing in on $1 million in tournament earinings for his career which spans back to the late 1990’s, and includes four wins in preliminary tournaments at the Aussie Millions. In 2006 Guttman finished 2nd and 3rd in WSOP tournaments, the two largest cashes of his career.
